Port fee update

Port Fees Going Up – but soon included in pricing!

We absolutely love going to the Bahamas, and heading to another country to dive is often a rare treat for a US operator. Maybe you’ve noticed we’re just about the only US-based Bahamas liveaboard left..? There are many reasons for that, all having to do with legal requirements and fees from both the US and the Bahamas, which can add up quickly!

Sapona wreck in the Bahamas sticking out of the water on a sunny dayWe have always tried to keep costs as low as possible for our guests, and to be honest we’ve been eating a lot of the rising costs of operating Bahamas charters lately. For the past year, we’ve been losing about $40 per person on our Bahamas port fees. We didn’t want to increase our prices again or ask you to bring even more cash with you when traveling so we just stayed the course.

Luckily, the Bahamas is starting to allow us pay our taxes and fees by means other than cash! That means we will soon stop asking you to pay cash when you arrive. Starting in 2026, Bahamas port fees will be included in our Bahamas charter pricing. You will see a jump in pricing for those 2026 trips – please keep in mind it’s really just a $40 increase overall to cover our operating costs in the Bahamas. As a courtesy to you, there will be no change in port fee price until April 2026. If you do need to pay the port fee by credit card before 2026 we will ask you to pay $160 instead of $120 so please continue to pay in cash until then.

As always, thanks for your loyalty and we’ll see you on board soon!
